Ruby Jewell Watson

September 7, 1931 – July 30, 2026 Ruby Jewell Watson, 94, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, peacefully entered her Heavenly home on July 30, 2026, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. Born on September 7, 1931, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Ruby was the daughter of Grover Cleveland Whitaker and Pearlie Ester Whitaker. On May 15, 1950, she married the love of her life, Clyde Watson Jr. Together they built a life marked by faith, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another. During Jr.'s career in the oil field, they lived in several Oklahoma communities before settling in Stratford, where they spent many years farming. Ruby was no stranger to hard work. She worked alongside her husband on the farm before beginning a career at the Pauls Valley State School, where she faithfully served for many years. Later in life, Ruby and Jr. made their home in Stillwater to be closer to their daughter and growing family. While Ruby worked hard throughout her life, her greatest life's work was loving people. To her family she was known simply as Mom, Grandma, Grammy, Granny or just Ruby, and those names became synonymous with unconditional love. She had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in others, even when they couldn't see it in themselves. She believed in forgiveness, extended grace freely, and taught those around her that people were always worth loving. Her kindness was quiet but constant, and she never met a stranger who didn't leave feeling cared for. Ruby found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved tending her garden, especially her beautiful roses, and took great pride in creating a home where everyone felt welcome. More than anything, she treasured time with her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends all knew they were deeply loved. Her patience, gentle spirit, and servant's heart became the foundation upon which generations of her family were built. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Clyde Watson Jr.; her son, Roy Dale Watson; and four brothers and four sisters. Ruby leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love with them: her daughter, Paula Quiring and husband, Pat Quiring; her grandson, Brandon Quiring and wife, Brenda; her granddaughter, Amber Traub; her cherished great-grandchildren, Jake Quiring, Grace Traub, Cale Quiring, Brooks Traub, and Sophie Traub; her brother, Junior Whitaker; her sister, Janie Scott; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing Ruby has been reunited with those she loved and is now at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her greatest legacy is not measured by the years she lived, but by the lives she touched. She leaves behind a family forever changed because they were loved by her. Family will receive visitors; Tuesday August 4, 2026 in DeArman/Pickard Chapel Stratford, Oklahoma from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday August 5, 2026 in the Church of Christ Stratford, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Bill Jones. Interment will follow in Clabber Flatts cemetery.
