In Loving Memory of Phillip Wayne Perkins Phillip Wayne Perkins, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family at the Blue River Healthcare Center in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him. Phillip was born on November 11, 1945, in Oklahoma City to Watson James and Emogene Perkins. He grew up in Oklahoma City and Del City area before moving to Coleman and then Tishomingo where he developed a passion for deer hunting, fishing, horses, dancing, woodworking, and cruising around in Dune buggy kit cars with his wife, Ruth. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and spending time with his family. Phillip attended Capital High School, completing 9th grade and part of 10th grade. He had a diverse career, starting with building cabinets and furniture for his ex-father-in-law, delivering for Del Paint & Supply, and driving long-haul semi-trucks cross-country. He also worked as a mechanic for Midwest Maintenance and Dynateria for Tinker Air Force Base and later as a security guard for Sundowner Trailer Company, receiving service awards for his dedication. Phillip's greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Evelyn Perkins, and their five children: Doreene Gail Davis (Richard) of Del City, Ok; and Tracey Dawn Burton of Yukon, Ok; LaQuitta Jean Shipman (Jerry) of Durant, OK; Annetta Sue Kelley (Rick) of Tishomingo, OK; Ernie Ray Smith (Debra) of Bozeman, MT. He leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance cherished by his 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of great friends who will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Watson James Perkins and Emogene Perkins, and siblings James Perkins, Patricia Williams, Donald Perkins, and Floyd Perkins. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at DeArman- Clark Funeral Home in Tishomingo, OK. For those that can’t make it Tuesday a family hour will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, starting at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Fillmore Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Richard Davis Jr., Billy Wayne Donaldson, Josh Shipman, Jeremy Shipman, Ben Wyatt, and Jordan Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Davis Sr., Mike Hestand, Jerry Shipman, Rick Kelley and Ernie Smith. Phillip's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
