O.G. Chandler Jr.

O.G. Chandler, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 18, 2025, in Pauls Valley, OK. He was born on May 12, 1937 to Onslow and Mary (Turner) Chandler at his family home in Chigley, OK. He attended Chigley through his seventh grade before transferring to Wynnewood School system. O.G. met his wife of 67 years, Marjorie (Lambert) Chandler his freshman year in high school and they were later married on June 1, 1957. He spent his entire life in the Wynnewood area, and worked in the Wynnewood Refinery crude unit before retiring in 2014. O.G. loved to hunt, farm and raise cattle. He loved the country, and wanted his children and grandchildren to enjoy the same. He loved farming so much that family vacations involved stopping along the highway to check the soil and grass, often taking samples home. O.G. loved the old fashioned Joy pie auctions, and the long ago Chigley Christmas Eve plays directed by his former Chigley teacher, Winnie Gettle. And, his fondest memories are of the Chandler family gatherings at the old white house on Chigley/Sandy Creek. O.G. was preceded in death by his parents Onslow and Mary Chandler; brothers, David and Henry Chandler; sisters Marty Currie and Linda Bagnall; and precious grandson Michael Chronister. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Chandler; four children; Anthony Chandler, Charlotte and husband Chuck Chronister, Colette and husband Robert McKinney, Candace and husband Grant Whitaker; and sister, Ruth McElroy. They have five grandchildren, Justin Chronister and wife Monica, Zac Chandler and wife Misty, Cruz Chandler, Haylie Elliott and Husband Jacob and Andrew Whitaker, as well as five great-grandchildren; Hadley Chandler, Angus and Alton Chronister, and Eli and Mckinlee Elliott. O.G. was loved by his family, and his children and grandchildren were precious to him. His legacy of hard work and love of the land will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 10AM to 4PM as well as Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 9AM-12PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2PM at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood. Coffee and refreshments will be available after the graveside service at the Wynnewood First Baptist Church and the family would like to invite all friends and family to come and visit.
