Loretta Sue Massingill

Loretta Sue Massingill, 85, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was born on April 28, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, to Earl Harvey and Mattie Sue (Sims) Manion. When Loretta was very young, her family moved from Texas to Oregon. They later made their home in Selma, California, where Loretta spent her teenage years and graduated from high school. On April 7, 1967, Loretta married the love of her life, Marvin “Dean” Massingill, in Fresno, California. Two years later, Loretta and Dean moved their family to Ravia, Oklahoma, where they made their home and raised their family. They shared 31 years of marriage together until Dean’s passing on September 12, 1998. Loretta worked several jobs throughout her life, but much of her time was devoted to caring for her “yours, mine, and ours” family of seven children. With such a large family, there was rarely a dull moment, and Loretta dedicated herself to making a loving and welcoming home for those she loved. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and playing games. Loretta was especially excited when she purchased her very first Nintendo. She and Dean were well known for their hospitality. Sunday evenings often meant card games surrounded by family and friends, creating countless memories around their table. Loretta was also a wonderful baker and will be especially remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, Italian Cream Cake, and Carrot Cakes. Her family knew there was always something special to look forward to when Loretta was in the kitchen. Faith was at the center of Loretta’s life. In her early thirties, she began studying the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 5, 1973. For the remainder of her life, she diligently studied the Bible and faithfully shared her beliefs and the hope she found in the Scriptures with others. Above all, Loretta’s life was centered around her faith and her family. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories created through Sunday evening card games, homemade desserts, handmade quilts and crocheted pieces, laughter, hospitality, and time spent with the people she loved most. Loretta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin “Dean” Massingill; her parents, Earl Harvey and Mattie Sue (Sims) Manion; brother, Bennie Earl Manion; grandson, Brandan Leon Kreger; and granddaughter, Audrey Jayne Arnold. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Ronnie and Dayna Massingill, and Earl and Christy Massingill; daughters, Ginger and Joe Burrous, Tammie and Ricky Kreger, Kay Monroe, Brenda and Bill Lamey, and Marvina Kimbriel; grandchildren, Dustin Burrous, Heather and Justin Arnold, Brandon Justice, Josh and Megan Justice, Jennifer Justice, Jarett and Meagan Kreger, Megan Stephenson, Amber Reynolds, William and Amanda Lamey IV, Emerald and Aubra Baker, Charles and Carleen Haddock, Sherry and Jerod Stapleton, Sarah and Jermey Hallows, Matthew Robinson, Takota Massingill and fiancée Jada, and Kameron Massingill and fiancée Schelbye, Roxi Massingill and Aury Massingill; along with 49 grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends. Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma with Brother Fred Wells to officiate.
