James. E. Tiny Day

James E. "Tiny" Day, a resident of Sulphur was born August 17, 1929 in Elgin, Oklahoma t to Leonard B. & Dulcie Z.(Autry) Day, one of eight children. Tiny went to be with the Lord, Saturday June 21, 2014, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 84 years 10 months and 4 days. The Day family moved to the Nebo area when he was a young man. He served in the Korean War with the 45th Infantry. He married the love of his life, Mary Nell (Price) Day on June 15, 1952 at Sulphur,Oklahoma. They had four children: Jim Judy, Tony & Brian. Tiny worked at many occupations including owning a cafe in Sulphur Tiny retired from the Sulphur Police Department after 22 years and from the Sulphur fire Department after 22 years. After retirement he worked for the Chickasaw National Recreation Service. Throughout his life, he worked as a ranch hand and handy man when he had time. He was well known for his large vegetable garden which many benefited from each year. Tiny loved to spend time with family and friends especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid "Bulldog Fan" supporting all Bulldog teams for years. He was a member of the 1st Free Will Baptist Church and the American Legion Post. Tiny was a devoted husband, loving father, caring yet spoiling grandfather and great-grandfather and generous and loyal friend. He made a difference in the lived of many. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings & their spouses: Troy & Clara Day, Bill Day, Linnie Mae (Day) Sanders, Johnny & Ruby Day, Joe Day, Loraine (Day) & Garvin Sneed, grandaughter: Katy Elizabeth Day . Survived by his wife: Mary Nell Day of Sulphur,OK Son & daughter-in-law: Jim & Carleena Day of Sulphur,OK Daughter & son-in-law: Judy & Bill Ayers of Sulphur,OK. Son & daughter-in-law: Brian & JoAnn Day of Sulphur,OK. Son & daughter-in-law: Tony & Donna Day of Plano, TX. Grandchildren & spouses: Jamie Day Bouton & Lee of Sulphur,OK Heather (Ayers) McMurrain & Wyatt of Davis, OK Mary Elaine Day of Plano, TX. Brookelyn Day, Madiecyn Day and Correbin Day all of Sulphur,OK Great grandchildren: Dayne & Laynie Bradley, Dayton Bouton all of Sulphur,OK; and Jakob & Makenzie Steury &, another on the way of Davis, Ok; Services will be held Wednesday June 25, 2014 at 10:00 am at First Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dick Terry and Larry Hobbs. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman's Clagg Funeral Home Pallbearers will be Gary Laxton, Tracy Laxton, Gary Tingle, Joey Muck, Donnie Ramer, David Shores, Jerry Payne, and Jim Nye Honorary Bearers: Perry Allen, Ed Samples, Bob Seward, Toby Todd, Roy Rogers, Dewayne Leming, Jerry Ramer, Larry Hobbs, Roy Provence, Allen McKay, Butch Hill, Clyde Runyan, Ronnie Pierce, Tom Payne, Charlie Tingle, Jim Freeman, the remaining members of the 45th Infantry,the Sulphur Fire Department, the Sulphur Police Department.
