With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Hercel Oliver Lofton on May 7, 2024, at the age of 94. Hercel's life, a tapestry woven with resilience, adventure, and boundless love, touched the hearts of all who knew him. Born in Shomac, Oklahoma, on March 6, 1930, Hercel was a man of unwavering determination. He married his soulmate, Rosalee Lofton, in 1948, and together, they embarked on a remarkable 62 year journey filled with shared passions and enduring companionship. Hercel's life was a testament to resilience. From his humble beginnings in farming to narrowly missing enlistment in World War II, he faced every challenge with unwavering resolve. His career in the oil fields, spanning nearly three decades, reflected his dedication and tireless work ethic. He earned a retirement from Sid Richardson after 29 years of service working gas plants and keeping their systems running. Yet, Hercel's true joy lay in the simple pleasures of life. He found solace in the great outdoors, where he reveled in the company of his beloved grandchildren, sharing his love for camping and the wilderness. A skilled craftsman, Hercel poured his heart into his creations, finding joy in working with his hands and bringing his ideas to life. His passion for adventure knew no bounds. Hercel and Rosalee forged lifelong friendships as they explored the wilderness, making memories that would last a lifetime. Their shared love for seeking out arrowheads and building dune buggies became cherished traditions, a testament to their deep connection and mutual respect. Hercel's 94th birthday, celebrated surrounded by family, was a poignant reminder of the love and admiration he inspired in those around him. As we bid farewell to Hercel, may we take solace in the enduring legacy of a life well-lived—a legacy of courage, love, and the relentless pursuit of adventure. Hercel is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalee, his mother, Ida Ellen Lofton, his son-in-law, Sammie Bowen, and his grandson Delbert Wayne Robertson. Hercel is survived by his daughter, Dena Bowen of Tishomingo, son, Daniel Lofton and wife Barbara of Avon, Montana, along with four grandchildren, D.D. Stewart and husband Quentin of Tishomingo, Cherie Lofton of Helena, Montana, Doni Arnold and Chris Magruder of Connerville, Richard Lofton of Avon Montana and seven great-grandchildren, Micah, Reese, Zane, Mason, Carson, Caslyn and Kylee and one great-great grandson, Waylon who will forever cherish his memory. Though Hercel may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be a blessing and his legacy an inspiration to us all. Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Hercel Lofton will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home Chapel with G.L. Ratliff to officiate. Interment to follow at the Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn. Family hour will be held on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. Those serving as pallbearers will be Quentin Stewart, Chris Magruder, Mason Arnold, Zane Arnold, G.L Ratliff Jr., and Colton Magruder. Honorary pallbearer Bobby Payne.
