Harlan Lynn King

Harlan Lynn King, 66, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at his home in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. He was born on November 20, 1959, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Cebert George and Geraldine (Hart) King. Harlan grew up in Wapanucka and attended Wapanucka Public Schools, graduating from Wapanucka High School in 1979. He spent his working years doing what came naturally to him—farming and caring for animals. He raised cattle and chickens and enjoyed the simple, hardworking way of life that came with living in the country. Faith was also a part of Harlan’s upbringing. He attended Wapanucka Assembly of God with his parents and shared many memories with them throughout the years. Harlan had a special appreciation for the outdoors and could often be found tending to his vegetable garden or working in his flower gardens. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing, and caring for his chickens. Whether he was working around the farm, checking on his animals, or spending time outdoors, Harlan was happiest enjoying the simple things in life. Harlan’s adventurous spirit showed itself early. As a young boy, he was quite energetic and had a knack for keeping his family on their toes. He could be found climbing onto the roof, much to the dismay of his mother, or paddling a homemade boat out onto the pond. Those childhood adventures became treasured memories and stories his family would remember for years to come. Harlan’s name also carried a special meaning. He was named after a good friend of his father’s from World War II, giving him a connection to a friendship and a piece of family history that began before he was born. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Cebert George and Geraldine (Hart) King. Those left to cherish Harlan’s memory include his sister, Pat Graham and her husband, Nolan, along with many friends and others who knew and cared for him. Graveside services to honor and celebrate Harlan’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Cravatt Family Cemetery in Bromide, Oklahoma.
