Connie "LeAnn" Wood Fires

Connie “LeAnn” Fires was born on April 26, 1985, in Knox City, Texas, to Wendell Wood and Connie Windham. She grew up in Stratford, Oklahoma, a community that became such an important part of who she was. LeAnn poured her heart and soul into the town she loved, leaving her mark on countless lives along the way. She was known for her incredible work ethic and the pride she took in everything she did. She spent time waitressing at Janice’s BBQ Pit, where she loved getting to know and care for the customers who walked through the doors. She also worked at Stratford Schools, where one of the greatest joys of her days was seeing the children each morning and getting to know them. Whether she was serving a meal, greeting a familiar face, or simply sharing her contagious laugh and beautiful smile, LeAnn had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for. Above all else, she took great pride in her family. She loved deeply and gave generously, always making sure the people around her knew they were loved. One of her greatest joys was being a “Gran Gran” to her beloved granddaughter, Sawyer. The love and happiness she found in that role was something truly special, and the bond they shared will forever be treasured. She had a beautiful habit of opening her home and her heart to others. She welcomed people in and had a way of making them feel instantly as though they belonged. Her generosity, infectious laughter, warm smile, and unwavering love for those around her made her someone who was impossible to forget. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special and for making the people in her life feel like family. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Seth Fires; her daughters, Liberty Fires and Pixie Fires; her granddaughter, Sawyer Hellman, daughter of Liberty; and her siblings, John Wood and wife Teri, Jason Wood and wife Rhonda, Andy Teachey and wife Kim, Donita Heckman and husband Lance, and Jimmy Wood, along with Christi Potter. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by each of them, as well as by the many family members, friends, children, customers, and members of the Stratford community whose lives she touched throughout the years.
