Brent Michael Wood

Brent Michael Wood, 47, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on June 17, 2025. He was born on April 4, 1978, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Larry Edward and Eugenia Mae (Neely) Wood. He was the loving father of two daughters, Lenzi Renea Wood of Bromide, Oklahoma, and Brooklyn Shaye Wood of Pottsboro, Texas, and he took great pride in them both. Brent grew up in Tishomingo and was a proud graduate of Tishomingo High School’s Class of 1996. During his school years, he was active in football, a member of FFA, and was an outstanding baseball player. He later attended Murray State College. Brent built a career as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver, roles that suited his hardworking spirit. Brent was a member of the Tishomingo First Baptist Church. A proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and a descendant of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Brent carried his Native heritage with deep pride throughout his life. A true “Chickasaw boy” at heart, he was an accomplished horseman with a lifelong love for riding, roping, and the rodeo. Brent found peace and purpose in the outdoors—whether hunting in the woods, foraging for wild onions and mushrooms, or fishing from the banks of a quiet river or pond. He had a special connection to the land, which was reflected in his passion for plants and gardening. Brent found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cruising down backroads and the love of being on his Harley Davidson was precious time spent. Brent’s personality was ornery, care-free and was a helper to those he cared for. He was known for his mischievous grin, pulling pranks and always had a joke up his sleeve. He was a natural caregiver, often showing up for others in times of need or caring for those he loved or when they were sick. Brent was a good cook; he could make a meal out of anything. He had a special bond with children and was an honorary uncle to many of his friends’ kids. He took the time to connect with children. Brent was generous and thoughtful, often showing up for visits bearing small treasures—arrowheads, rocks, plants, food, or anything he found that reminded him of those he loved. He was often a regular at his loved one’s gatherings, whether it was Thanksgiving, Christmas, or a family reunion, and was a loyal and cherished friend to many. Brent was known for making his rounds to visit. Above all, Brent adored his family. He shared a deep and special bond with his mother, Eugenia, proudly declaring himself a “mama’s boy.” The time Brent shared with his father, Larry, was deeply meaningful. Larry was a constant presence on the sidelines—from Little League to the football field—always supporting, guiding, and cheering him on with pride. As Brent grew older, their bond continued to flourish, especially through their shared love of gardening, where Larry passed down his knowledge and nurtured Brent’s own passion for working with the land. Brent had a special love for his dogs, Gabee and Swayzee, and found great joy in their companionship. Brent shared a close bond with his niece, Neely. He was the kind of uncle who listened, was very protective, offered advice, and showed up with unwavering support and love. Brent is survived by his parents, Larry and Eugenia Wood; his daughters, Lenzi and Brooklyn Wood; his brother and wife, Dr. Scott and Ashley Wood; nieces, Kayla, Neely and Cheyenne Wood; nephew, Colt Wood. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Wood; grandmother, Louise (Carney) Waldington; grandfather, Charley Neely; grandmother, Helen (Brashier) Neely; and his uncle, Robert Wood. Brent will be remembered for his humor, generosity, adventurous spirit, and the many lives he touched with his kindness and loyalty. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Randy Wade and Pastor Allen Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Tishomingo Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Chance Cannon, David Harcrow, Bryant Upton, Jason Morgan, Bobby Harris, and Aaron Scallion. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Reed, Carl Don Lawson, John Rogers, and Bradan Carroll.
