Wanda Jane LaFevers "Janie"
November 25, 1945 - May 29, 2022
Janie LaFevers, Wanda Jane Warren, was born in Fort Smith Arkansas on November 25, 1945 to Cecil James and Virginia Lucille Almond Warren. Her mother passed away on New Year’s Day 1960. Because of her age, 14, Janie was a big help to her grandmother in raising her four sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Lucille; step sister, Ellie and husband Homer Holmes; father, Cecil James Warren and step mother Ruby Warren; step brother, Marty Davis. She is survived by her husband, Wendell LaFevers of the home; daughters, Sheila Allen and husband Eric Vance of Missouri, Bonnie Lowe and husband Danny of Milburn; son, Jeff LaFevers and wife Stacey of Milburn; brother, Cecil James Warren Jr. of Milburn; sister, Janette and husband Kenny Manley of North Carolina; sisters, Linda and husband Ron Warren, Nancy and husband Jim Kastle, both of Arizona, JoAnn Warren of Maryland, and Karen and husband Mark Arnold of Colorado; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Janie joined and proudly served in the Air Force after high school. Shortly after she met the love of her life, Wendell LaFevers and they married March 27, 1965. She attended nursing school at the age of 42 and was a dedicated employee of Johnston Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Janie loved to spend time at their cabin in Clayton, OK, where she enjoyed the peace and quiet and putting together puzzles. She also enjoyed embroidery, as many friends and family can attest to. Everyone has at least one treasured cup towel and/or pillow case. Momma was an amazing mother. She loved us unconditionally. She loved to sew and made us all clothes and pajamas. We all picked up pine cones and spray painted and added glitter to make Christmas ornaments. She walked a creek to catch tadpoles, put them in her “good Tupperware” bowl and let us watch them become frogs (until they started hopping out of the bowl!) Momma became my girl scout leader to keep me occupied. I will never forget her cleaning house and ironing to Elvis Presley, Paul Anka and the Platters. She loved flowers and house plants and was the best cook. I ate anything she ever made (even the dreaded tamale pie). She was always a lady through and through and so very classy. She loved “bling, Smokey Topaz was her favorite. She is and will always be greatly missed.
