    Royce Marshall Lanier "Roscoe"

    October 23, 1937 - May 1, 2022

Royce Marshall Lanier, known as Roscoe to many, 84, passed away in the comfort of his home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma on Sunday, May 1, 2022. On October 23, 1937 Wallace and Iva (Marshall) Lanier had twins, Royce and Cloyce Lanier at their home in Bold Springs, OK; Cloyce passed at the age of 18 months old and the rest of Royce’s life he always said he had a guardian angel with him. Royce served as Master Sergeant in the National Guard for 12 years. He retired from the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery in 1985 after being there for 25 years. Royce married the love of his life, Linda Kaye Cope, on May 22, 1962 in Macomb, OK at her parents’ home. Although they never had children he raised and loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own. He would do anything for anyone, treated them all equally and taught them many life lessons. “Roscoe’s Deer Camp” the annual deer camp and fish fry he would host before opening deer season where everyone was welcome. Royce was a Mason for 50 years. He loved his family, his friends that were like family and was deeply loved by them; without a doubt one of the greatest men you would ever meet. Royce is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Iva Lanier; mother and father-in-law, Elwood and Bessie Cope; brothers, Cloyce Lanier and James Lanier; brother in laws, Jerry Cope, Milton Gilbert and Larry Crow; and niece, Karen Crow Degraffenreid. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his beautiful bride of 59 years, Linda Kaye Lanier; brother, Floyce Lanier; sister, Twyla Gilbert; brother in laws, John Cope and Pat Cope; sister in laws, Dorothy Crow, Myra Sweaney, Vera Masters and Cheryl Lipe; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM First United Methodist Church in Tishomingo. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bold Springs Cemetery (8125 S. Hollow Springs Road, Coleman, Oklahoma 73432)
