Martha Jo Sloan

September 23, 1921 - January 3, 2021

Martha Jo Sloan, a resident of Wynnewood, OK was born on September 23, 1921 in Wynnewood to Paralee (Cavaness) Underwood and Joshua Gustave Underwood. She passed away January 3, 2021 in Wynnewood at the age of 99. Martha grew up and graduated high school in Wynnewood. On December 25, 1941 she married Leslie Bea Sloan in Wynnewood. They spent approximately a year in Wynnewood before Bea was transferred to Madill and then Hominy. After Bea's passing she moved back to Wynnewood to be close to her brothers Doyle and Truett Underwood. Martha enjoyed reminiscing about riding in horse and buggy to town on Saturdays, school days at Daylight schoolhouse, and many honery stories of her and her brothers. She was honored with having 5 generations. When she was unable to care for herself she lived with her daughter that took exceptional care of her, with the help of her great granddaughter Afton Cox. She also had assistance from angels - Paula, Kenzie, and Kassey. She began her journey to heaven in the arms of her great granddaughter Afton with her granddaughter Terrie and her daughter Linda all by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son - Danny Sloan, and grandson - Joshua Sloan. She is survived by her daughter Linda Jo (Sloan) Jones and Husband Phillip Lee of Wynnewood; Son - Zanny Doyle Sloan and wife Sylvia of Mannford, OK; daughter in law - Connie Sloan; grandchildren - Terrie Dimond, Matt Sloan, David Sloan, Leslie Sloan, Kristi Hix, Brandon Sloan, Michelle Hamilton, Lori Kerns, Lisa Glover, and Christie Sloan; great grandchildren - Broderick, Afton, Finley, Natalie, Savanna,and Brandon; great great grandchildren - Callie, Spencer, Paisley, Justin, Laurann, Julia, and Emily. Services will be Graveside at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK on Thursday January 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jarrod Kendall officiating.
