He was born on September 15, 1931, in Francis, Oklahoma, and his journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and unyielding dedication to his family and country. Ken was a proud veteran of the Army, serving with honor and integrity. After retiring, he embraced life with the same passion, cementing his legacy as the best papaw anyone could ask for. His warm heart resulted in a nurturing spirit, creating lifelong bonds with his numerous stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He faced each day with a smile, eager to share stories, advice, and unconditional love. Ken was an animal lover at heart, with his beloved dogs, Elsa, Dolly, and Polly occupying a cherished place in his life. His friendship with these loyal companions brought him immense joy and comfort, reflecting the deep compassion he held for all living beings. A true lover of nature, Ken would often be found observing and feeding the wildlife that meandered through his backyard. The serene moments he spent in the company of whispering trees and the song of birds filled his spirit with contentment. His love for the beach was equally profound, providing an escape where he could revel in the soothing sound of waves and the warmth of the sun. Whenever not at home or enjoying the beauty of nature, one could find him at the casino, where he enjoyed the thrill of games and the jovial company of friends. Ken’s zest for life and adventure continued to blossom, leaving participants joyously laughing at many unforgettable moments he created. Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda West of Shawnee, Oklahoma, alongside a legacy of love through his stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each will remember him for his infectious smile and the warmth he exuded every day. As we celebrate Ken’s extraordinary life and all the moments that brought laughter and love to our hearts, we honor his memory by nurturing the bonds he held dear and embracing the beauty in nature he cherished so deeply. Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Monday November 4, 2024 in Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church with Military Honors, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Officiating; Rev. Larry Sparks. Interment will be in Ft. Sill National Cemetery Elgin, Oklalhoma.
