Johnnie Sue Henagar

January 13, 1939 - June 26, 2020

Johnnie Sue Henagar (Melton) was born to Orbra and Ruth Melton (Bates) in Byars, Oklahoma on January 13, 1939. She departed this life on June 26,2020. Johnnie Sue married the love of her life, Raymond Henagar, on July 25, 1957. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their children Cliff, Kim and Gayla in Stratford, Oklahoma. Although Johnnie Sue worked in many vocations from working at the glass plant to flagging trucks, she was most known for her work at the Stratford Public Schools. Johnnie Sue retired from the Stratford Public School system in 1995 after 22 years, during her time there she was over the cafeteria and transportation. The cafeteria was an extension of her home kitchen and she prepared meals for her students with the same love and attention as she did for her own family. Johnnie Sue cherished her family and friends. She loved being in her kitchen preparing meals for those closest to her. There was always an open chair at her table and anyone who had the joy of knowing her knew they were welcome anytime. “Granny” as she was known to many was the most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Henagar and her daughter, Gayla Rose. She leaves behind her son, Cliff Henagar, of Stratford, her daughter Kim Wade and husband Tony of Ada, grandchildren Crystal Peitraforte, Jeff Rose, Lacy Curry and husband, Joe Curry, Michel Rose and Angel Wade. As well as great grandsons, Tanner and Eli Curry. Services in celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at 2:00 pm at the Stratford Church of Christ. Viewing will be Monday, June 29th at the DeArman/Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford from 5pm to 7pm.
