James Donald Pannell "Don"

James Donald Pannell (Don), age 87 of Coleman, passed from this life on May 2, 2022 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Don was born on October 7, 1934 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Bliss L. and Ola Mae (Drummond) Pannell. He married Mary Rose Hardy on December 31, 1953 and shared 64 years of marriage together until her passing on July 1, 2018. Don earned a Bachelors Degree in music education from Southeastern Oklahoma State College. He spent his working career as an elementary and high school teacher and coach as well as a farmer and rancher. Don spent the majority of his life living in Coleman but had brief periods of living in Ada, Russett and Boulder, Montana. A long-time member of the Church of Christ in Coleman. Don enjoyed watching sports, especially the Oklahoma Sooners and being home and around his family that he loved dearly. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose (Hardy) Pannell; parents, Bliss and Ola Mae Pannell. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his children, Mike Pannell and wife Penny of Coleman, Donola Battles and husband Mike of Kiowa, Dan Pannell and wife Neila of Overland Park, Kansas, Melissa McDaniel and husband Grant of Coleman, Matt Pannell and wife Michelle of Blanchard; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services to honor and celebrate Don’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Coleman Church of Christ. Interment to follow at the Tishomingo Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Coleman Church of Christ. Those serving as pallbearers will be James Pannell, Dave Thornburg, Caleb Pannell, Kyle Shipman, and Tyler Shipman.
