Gus Gray

Gus Gray of Stratford, Oklahoma was born April 17, 1930 in Stratford, to Barney and Myrtle May (Mercer) Gray. He passed away June 20, 2019 in Cumby, Texas at the age of 89 Years 2 months and 3 days. He grew up in the Stratford area along with his nine siblings. He joined the military and served during the Korean Crisis from 1951 to 1952. He married Sammie Shi on June 10, 1959 in Gainsville, Texas. They made their home in Stratford and he worked for Garvin County district #3. He moved to Cumby, Texas 11 years ago to be close to his daughter Camille. Preceded by, his parents, wife; Sammie, all of his siblings; J.B., George, Augustin, Baxter, Sammie Joe, Jake, G.R., and Rex Gray; his sister Bessie Swallow. And one grandchild; Kellie Ann Gray. Survived by; one daughter; Camille Reed & husband Don of Cumby, Texas two sons; William David Adams & wife Mary of Tulsa, OK. Patrick Gray of Stratford, OK. three grandchildren; Kimberly Ann Cabler & husband Roch of Houston, Texas Ceanna Leigh Boatwright & husband Casey of Royce City, Texas, Grayson Scott Morrison & wife Skylar of Dallas, Texas. Seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers; Casey Boatwright, Jeff Cosby, Todd Cosby, Jay Johnson, Don Reed, and Dean Swallow. Services; will be 11:00 AM Wednesday June 26, 2019 in DeArman/Pickard Chapel Stratford, OK. Officiating; Rev. Lewis Perry. Burial will be in McGee cemetery Stratford, OK.
