Fred Alan Fink

Fred Alan Fink, 68, resident of Sulphur, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1. at Oklahoma City. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death. Fred was born November 19, 1948 in Independence, Kansas, to Vernon and LaVerne Fink. He graduated from Tulsa University. On July 16, 1971, he married the love of his life and his best friend, the former Cinda Gaylyn Parks, in Ardmore. Fred worked at J C Penney in a management position for 15 years and lived in Tulsa, Lubbock, Odessa, San Antonio, Houston and Colorado before settling in Sulphur in 1998. Fred was adored and admired by all who knew him and was known as a kind, giving person who was active in the Sulphur community and quick to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He always wanted to make the community better and was in the Oklahoma Main Street Program and on the board of the Artists of the Arbuckles. Fred was an avid supporter of the Sulphur High School girls’ softball team and he truly looked forward to every Saturday in the summer, where he entertained many with Movies on the Plaza with a screen he made and installed. Many of us will enjoy the reminders of Fred in town, including his installation of the memorial benches and his tireless efforts towards the general beautification of Sulphur’s downtown area. Fred’s motto was that it’s always better to give than to receive, and the best way to carry on Fred’s spirit is to pay it forward with random acts of kindness to others in need. Fred loved movies, antiques and experienced tremendous pleasure in helping others in the community. Blessed with a youthful spirit, Fred was a kid at heart and an avid collector of Hot Wheels and was known for entertaining people on Fourth of July with an amazing fireworks display. He is survived by his wife Cinda of 45 years, mother LaVerne Fink, daughter Kristin Suchomel and her husband Jason Suchomel, daughter Kaelin Fink, grandson Zachary, granddaughters Cora, Kinsley and Quinn, brother Paul Fink and wife Peggy, brother Larry Fink and wife Cathy, brother Glen Fink and wife Claudia, and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Fink. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on April 7, 2017 at Sulphur United Methodist Church at the corner of 14th and Williams Drive with Larry Earl Fink and Rev. P. J. Stewart officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fred’s honor to the benevolence fund at the Sulphur United Methodist Church.
