Effie Wright

Effie M. Wright, a resident of Wynnewood, OK was born July 12, 1949 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Annie (Moore) and Tom A. Turner. She passed away April 10, 2012 at the age of 62 years 8 months and 28 days. Effie attended Lincoln School for one year. After integration she attended Wynnewood Schools and graduated from Wynnewood High School. She was married to her childhood sweetheart Rufus Wright, Sr. at Pauls Valley, OK on July 24, 1967. They moved to Oklahoma City for a short time, but returned to Wynnewood to raise their family. She was known as "Mrs. Effie" or "Sis Effie" by most of Wynnewood. She had worked several years in the health care profession. She was a member of several clubs and organizations including Garvin County Extention Pleasant Hill Homemaker's group, Garvin County Election Board Poll worker, and Youth and Choir Director at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Sis Effie and her husband Rev. Rufus Wright, Sr. established their ministry Word of Faith, teaching home bible studies, and were currently serving as pastors of Oak Dale Church. She enjoyed reading the bible, watching NCIS, Swamp People, and having cook outs with her family. Survived by her Husband of 44 years - Pastor Rufus Wright, Sr. of the home; Daughter and Her Fiancee' - Sonia Wright and Alan Rathburn of Raymond, MS; Daughter and Son in law - Stephanie and Octavio Basaldua of Pauls Valley, OK; Son and Daughter in law - Rufus Wright, Jr. and Claira of Wynnewood, OK; Son and Late Daughter in law - Rodney and Melody Wright of Pauls Valley, OK; 3 Brothers and Sisters in law - Claude and Betty Turner of Lubbock, TX; Robert and Annette Turner of Stillwater, OK; Ray and Bertha Turner of Wynnewood, OK; 2 Sisters and Brothers in law - Jeanette and Earl Miles of Wynnewood, OK; Doris and Carl Smith of Wynnewood, OK; 13 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and a host of adopted extended family. Services will be held Tuesday April 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Wynnewood officiated by Rev. Robert Turner and and assisted by Rev. Scott Thomas. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Wynnewood, OK.
