Betty Lou Black

Betty Lou Wicker Black, daughter of Vernon Reed Wicker and Wilma Lee Rogers Wicker was born on January 29, 1936 in New Castle, Texas. She passed from this life on January 6, 2022 in Milburn, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 8 days. Betty had been a resident of Milburn, Oklahoma since 1958. She was a farmer, rancher and a stay-at-home mother to her four children whom she loved very dearly. When her kids got older Betty worked as a home nurse aid for 21 years. She really like taking care of her patients, they were like family to her. She liked to watch her grandkids and great grandkids and even great-great grandkids play and cooking for them was the joy of her life. She always had the biggest smile and hugs for everyone. Her hobbies were cooking, reading her bible, watching westerns, puzzles, embroidery and sewing for the children; making them suits and dresses. Betty enjoyed going camping with her family and vacations. She loved going shopping with her daughter, going to the beach, Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Betty really enjoyed going out on a boat on the ocean at night to look at the stars with her family, that was one of her favorite moments. She was a member of Christ Independent Baptist Church in Milburn. A loving mother, grandmother and friend who was deeply loved and will be missed. Betty is preceded in death by husband, Willard Cleo Bradford Black; parents, Vernon and Wilma Wicker; grandparents, Robert Wicker, Laura Wicker, Frank Rogers Sr., Hattie Rogers; sons, Vernon and Daniel Black; granddaughter, Sabrina Black; great grandson, Stephen West; great-great granddaughter, Trinity McCathern. Those she leavers to cherish her memories are her children, Ray Black and Susie of Tishomingo; LaWanda Wright and husband Clay of Milburn; grandchildren, Serena Sheppard, Scotty Black, Shawn Black, Belinda Baken, Sally West, James Black, and Patrick Black; great grandchildren, LeAmber Black, Bradford Black, Adyn Sheppard, Brooke Anderson, Paige Dove, Peyton Fraley, Sydney Black, Emma Black, Brianne Wilmoth, Ensley Janek, Caleb Baken, Alyssa Baken, April Lenard, Mildred Lenard, Gavyn Black, and Raelynn Black; great-great grandchildren, Rorey Anderson, Willie Anderson, Magnolia Dove, Ayellah Wilmoth, Ta’Kotah Wilmoth, Sofia Gomez, Samantha Dibble Jr., and Vladimir Dibble Jr.; daughter in laws, Theresa Black and Evelyn Black and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services to honor and celebrate the life of Betty Lou Black will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Christ Independent Baptist Church in Milburn. Interment to follow at Condon Grove Cemetery. Family hour will be from 6:00 - 8:00 on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Those serving as pallbearers will be Ray Black, LaWanda Wright, Clay Wright, James Black, Scotty Black, and Shawn Black. Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Wright, Patrick Black, Susie Black and Barbara Wright.
