W.D. Digby

W.D. "Digger" Digby, a resident of Wynnewood was born March 30, 1940 in Davis, Oklahoma to Fannie Mae (Welles) and Luster L. Digby. He passed away February 17, 2009 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years 10 months and 17 days. He was married to Mary Lee (Hicks) Son Digby at Pauls Valley, OK on October 28, 1988. He grew up in Davis and spent most of his life in the Davis and Wynnewood area. “Digger” spent many years as a salesman for TG&Y. He then together with his wife Mary owned and operated Ardmore Pickup Accessories for a few years before moving back to Wynnewood to open his own business. In his marriage to Mary he acquired four children and the grandchildren and great grandchildren that came in the years to follow. To his grandchildren he was number one. He had a very special relationship with each and every one of them. The grandkids always knew that Pa would help them with anything they wanted or needed. He never told them no and meant it. Besides his kids and grandkids his other passion was his love for restoring old cars and pickups. Digger was also a very devoted fan of OU sports especially football. He loved for his family to get together and watch football games, especially the OU – Texas game. He was a member of Eastern Gate Baptist Church in Wynnewood, OK. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother - Glen Digby, and Sister - Betty Hefley. Survived by his Wife - Mary Digby Of the home.; Daughter - Denise Erwin of Wynnewood, OK; 3 Sons and Daughters in law - Sean and Karen Son of Wynnewood, OK; Tony and Judy Son of Ardmore, OK; Tony and Lisa Duncan of Pauls Valley, OK; 3 Brothers - Charles Digby of Ardmore, OK; Clifton Digby of Pauls Valley, OK; Billy R. Digby of Sulphur, OK; 2 Sisters - Inez Sullens of Edmond, OK; Estle Allison of Lone Grove, OK; 9 Grandchildren - Andy, Lyndsey, Matt, Shalee, Nicholas, Lauren, Zack, Cody, and Kyla. Special Grandsons - Cameron Elmore, Chad Pruitt, and Garrett Weatherford; 2 Great Grandchildren – Brock Erwin and Kynlee Son; Special Niece – Debbie Canon Pallbearers will be Mark Carter, Josh Willis, Cameron Elmore, Korbin Feuerbach, Garrett Weatherford, and Stan Musgrove. Services will be held Friday February 20, 2009 at 10:00 am at Eastern Gate Baptist Church officiated by Rev. John Cove. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman's Wynnewood Funeral Home.
