Thelma G. LaFevers

Funeral Services for Mrs. Thelma G. LaFevers, 100, of Milburn, Oklahoma will be held on Monday, July 15th, 2013 at 10:00 a. m. at the First Baptist Church in Milburn with Rev. Richard Corn officiating, assisted by Michael Branch. Interment will follow in the Condon Grove Cemetery. Mrs. LaFevers passed away on July 10th, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Thelma was born on June 9th, 1913 in Milburn to John Wesley Goodman and Ida Lillian (Little) Goodman. She attended school there and later married William Harlin "Dick" LaFevers on January 25th, 1934 in Fillmore, Oklahoma. Except for a short time, Mrs. LaFevers lived in Milburn her entire life. She worked for many years as a cook for the Milburn School and also did a lot of baby sitting for children in the area, while raising her own children. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church since the early 1950's. Mrs. LaFevers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 15th, 1985; three sons, Kenneth on November 11th, 1958, Harlie on October 19th, 2007 and Bill on January 24th, 2010; a daughter, Nancy Altom on February 27th, 2012; a grandson, Stephen LaFevers; three brothers, Lester, Lee and Lowell Goodman; five sisters, Dora Harris, Betty Channell, Pauline Lovett, Ysleta Sherman and Flora Dean Warden; a son-in-law, Don Hogue and a daughter-in-law, Verna LaFevers. She is survived by three sons, Wendell LaFevers and wife Janie of Milburn, Pat LaFevers and wife Bobbie Lou of Tishomingo and Mike LaFevers and wife Bobbi Jean, also of Tishomingo; two daughters, Elaine Hogue of Milburn and Janet LaFevers of the home; her sister, Bonnie Maxwell of Amarillo, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers for the service will be grandsons, Earl LaFevers, Duane LaFevers, Alan LaFevers, Jeff LaFevers, Kyle LaFevers, Ken LaFevers, Kirk LaFevers, Jason LaFevers, Craig Hogue, Cody Hogue, David Altom and Michael Branch. Honorary Bearers will be: Joe Heath, Dale Callen, James Rowland, Larry Callen, Dallas Boggs, Jeff Rhea and Warren Brashier. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter, 2448 E. 81st Street, Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.
