Sonya Sharree Mull

Sonya Sharree Mull, “SoSo” to most family and “Blossom” to many close friends, 48, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Durant, Oklahoma. Sonya was born on April 17, 1975 in Denison, Texas to Sharron Kay and Forrest William Coonrod. She spent most of her childhood in Durant raised by Sharron Kay and Leland Tom Mullins. Sonya attended Durant Public Schools and lived her adult life mostly in Oklahoma and Texas but also spent several years in New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Most of her working career was spent as a homemaker, but she also worked as an administrative assistant for Hasco Inc for some time. As a child she enjoyed cheerleading for her brother’s little league football team, taking tap and jazz dance classes, and playing basketball for her school team. She loved fishing and anything outdoors, but she also had a creative side and enjoyed drawing and writing. She was a die hard Football fan. You could find her rooting for the Texas Longhorns on Saturdays and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays, and she’s loved to torment her sister anytime the Sooners took a loss. Sonya had a big heart with an open mind and a love for all people and animals. Her biggest accomplishments in life were being a Mom of 3 and Mimi of 4, and learning to be resilient in the face of adversity. It was a goal of Sonya’s to see her children be successful and she was always encouraging them to achieve their goals. She had a desire to help others and while she didn’t achieve it she had always wanted to pursue a career in psychology to help on a larger scale. It is no secret that Sonya had many struggles in her life, but the most devastating were the losses of her two grandchildren, Paulie and Logan. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything and was really just a big kid at heart. She loved playing games on her tablet, singing silly songs, playing practical jokes, and celebrating Halloween. A mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend gone too soon but her memory will live on forever. Those she leaves to cherish her memories are her children, Tosha Thomas (South Carolina), Cierra Danielle (Durant), and Tristan Mull (Durant); grandchildren, James Jamieson and Aiden Sharp; grandmother, Dorothy King; dad, Tommy Mullins (Durant); siblings, Tracy Waymire (Denison) and Tosha Ferguson (Durant); nieces, Mallory Waymire, Miranda Waymire, Kenedy LaFevers; great nephews and nieces , Maylon, Marshall and Ellie; also many great friends who loved and supported her, including her best friend Dolly Cooper, who was more like a sister to her and an aunt to her children. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sharron Kay Mullins and Forrest William Conrad; grandchildren Paul Thomas and Benjamin Logan Montville II. A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at DeArman- Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Tishomingo, Oklahoma (305 E. Main Street) with Pastor Jon Hazell to officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Tristan Mull, Tracy Waymire, David Jenkins, Aaron James and Stephen Daily.
