Sharon Jean West

Sharon Jean West passed away peacefully Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX. She was born in Tishomingo, OK, November 26, 1949. She attended Tishomingo Schools up to her graduation in 1968. Sharon went on to further her education at Southern Oklahoma Technology Center, where she received her license as an LPN. She served as a nurse for 17 years at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Tishomingo before transitioning to her 13-year role at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Tishomingo, where she stayed until her retirement. She married Ronnie West on April 26, 1969 and was married 55 years up to her passing. She dedicated her life to caring for both her family and her community. Whichever role she served, from being a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a nurse, a friend, or someone to sit next to that would make small talk to make sure you were welcome, Sharon always served her presence with a friendly smile and her fun, quirky personality. She was hard to miss, and even harder to forget. When she wasn’t working or spending time with family, if it was summertime, she was probably on the lawn mower, and any other time of year, on the 4-wheeler. All her little (or big) dogs were close behind, and ready for their trek to the back 40. Fishing, going to the lake, and waiting for the annual 4th of July show were just a few of the memories she loved to tell over and over, but of course, she wouldn’t have told those “Big fish” stories. She left that to Ronnie. Nature and music were what kept her grounded, and for that we would like to formally thank Elvis, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, and of course, Luke Bryan. Sharon is survived by her husband Ronnie West, two sons, Darrell Walker and wife Catherine Ratliff Walker and Gary West and wife Heather, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Julia Walker, brothers Donnie, David and Johnny Walker, and granddaughter Mesha Ann Brodeur all of Tishomingo. Visitation will be at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 12, from 5:00 -7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Tishomingo, Thursday, March 13, at 11:00 am. Interment following at Condon Grove Cemetery.
