Tributes

Linda Lucille Moore came into this world on October 7, 1938, in Ravia, Oklahoma. She was the 5th of 7 children born to R.A. and Abbie Moore. The family spent most of her early years living around the Johnston County area. The family made trips to the Washington/Oregon area to work in the orchards and different field crops. Linda met Jimmy Scribner when she was in high school, and they were married in December, 1954. The couple had 3 children over the years, a son James, a daughter Cheryl and another son Dewayne. The first 5 years of their lives together, they lived in quite a few different places. A few years were spent in West Texas area with short stays in Oklahoma City and Stonewall, Oklahoma. They then returned to Fillmore and bought some land and built a house. They lived within a couple miles for the rest of her life. Linda dropped out of high school to take care of her children. She worked a few jobs on occasion over the next few years. When her youngest son started school, she decided to get her GED and start her college educations. She finished her degree in Education and became a teacher. She taught Math at Fillmore, Milburn and Tushka. She also got her master’s degree during her teaching years and landed a position as the High School Principal at Achille, Oklahoma. Linda and her family attended Fillmore Church of the Nazarene for all the time they lived in the area. She taught different Sunday School classes for many years, from children to adult women. She was very dedicated to making sure her children were in church on a regular basis. Linda loved to travel. She made a trip to Europe, many trips in the USA and many different cruises. She was also an avid quilt maker. Her quilts were treasured and caused a sense of competition as the main prize of the annual family Christmas bingo game. She was an accomplished cook. Her dumplings were considered a delicacy at the monthly church social. She was great at traditional meals and open to trying just about any type of recipe she thought sounded good. She was also a serious reader. Linda left this world peacefully on November 9, 2022. Her trip was preceded by her father, Royal Alton Moore, her mother, Abbie Alice Pitts Moore, a brother, Harold Moore, a sister, Thalia Higginbotham and a brother, Raymond Moore. She is survived by a brother, Glenn Moore, sisters, Barbara Powell and Carolyn Harris. She leaves behind Jimmy Melvin Scribner, her husband of 67 years, children James Morris Scribner, Cheryl K. Reamy and husband Gary and Alton Dewayne Scribner. She was grandmother to Shelly Reeves and Husband DJ, Sarah Klepper and husband Zach, Leah Lowe and husband Chad, Triston Scribner and wife Lindsey, Morgan Scribner and partner Leonard Allen and Dalton Scribner. She leaves great-grandchildren, Ali, Jesslyne and McCray Reeves, Kason and Konner Klepper, Henley and Laramie Lowe, Braylon Burch, Millie, Mya and Miller Scribner, and Emma Allen. She will be missed by many other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM Fillmore Nazarene Church in Fillmore, Oklahoma. Family hour will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 PM November 13, 2022 at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home.
