Lila Jeannine Parker

Lila Jeannine Parker, a resident of Okla. City was born May 10, 1930 in Marietta, OK to Wilbur Osie and Aline Gay (Robeson) Meeks. She passed away August 20, 2016 at Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 86 years 3 months and 10 days. At a young age, Lila and her family moved to Sulphur, OK, where she attended the Valley View School and Sulphur High School. She graduated from Sulphur High school in 1948. Before graduating, Lila met fellow Sulphur resident, Jodie Parker. They eloped and were married in Gainesville, TX on April 11, 1947. Lila and Jodie welcomed their first daughter, Donna, in 1949, followed by their second daughter, Vickie, in 1950. Lila enjoyed traveling cross-country with her husband for his work from time to time. This love for travel would follow her for the rest of her life. She enjoyed traveling around Europe in the 1970s, and said that Switzerland was her favorite place that she ever got to visit. She and Jodie also enjoyed countless trips to Las Vegas and Branson with their friend, Jean Ruby. Lila worked for Logan Advertising for 22 years. She enjoyed working with a wonderful group of women whom she lovingly called friends. She also sold Avon for over 40 years. Lila found the greatest joy in spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed gardening-taking pride in her own beautiful front yard flower bed, but also sharing a vegetable garden with her friend Carol. Lila's greatest extension of love, came through her kitchen. She will always be remembered for making everyone's favorite meals for their birthdays or special occasions - catfish, quail, and friend chicken - taking special care to spoil her grandkids with their favorite foods. Her cheese burgers were always on high demand with her grandkids, and she was always prepared to make a scrambled egg sandwich for her granddaughter after morning rowing practices in college. Her greatest fulfillment was from time spent with her grandkids. Lila attended Wilmont Place Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her gentle soul and for always taking care of others before herself. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Jodie, her parents Aline & Wilbur Meeks, brother, Charles Meeks, and infant sister, Cleta. Survived by Daughter: Donna Rozneck and husband Paul of Evergreen, CO Daughter: Vickie Stewart and husband Jerry of Okla. City, OK Sister: Ruth Lannom and husband De, of Sulphur,OK Grandson: Jason Rozneck and wife Malette, of Edmond, OK Grandson: Adam Rozneck, of Arlington, TX Granddaughter: Isabelle Stewart, of Okla. City, OK Great-granddaughters: Kennedy and Ridley Rozneck of Edmond, OK as well as a very beloved extended family. Pallbearers will be Paul Rozneck, Jason Rozneck, Adam Rozneck, Kennedy Rozneck, Isabelle Stewart, and Jim Parker. Honorary Bearer: Jerry Stewart Services will be held Wednesday August 24, 2016 at 10:00AM at DeArman's Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Dick Terry.
