Lee Roy Nelson

Lee Roy Nelson, 75, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 in Mead, Oklahoma. Lee was born on September 23, 1948 in Folsom, Oklahoma to James and Esther (Richardson) Nelson. He attended Coleman Schools and after graduating went on to attend the Ardmore Vo-Tech where he got a degree in small engine repair. He married Kathryne Ruth Delozier on October 6, 1978 in Sherman, Texas. Lee was a truck driver for 32 years; working for AMPI, Hoffmeier Trucking and Daryl Thompson Trucking. He held a 100,000-mile safe driving award from Hoffmeier Trucking. Lee loved fishing, camping and being with his family. He was always a positive person in everyone’s life and no matter how bad things got you could always count on him to be the one to make you laugh. He was good at practical jokes and pulling pranks on people. Lee loved sharing stories about his life with his grandkids. He was always up for going on a ride, enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers and sitting on his porch people watching. Lee’s sense of humor, love for life and bright smile will be missed but his legacy will live on forever. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his five children, Donnesa Nelson, of Mead, Crystal Delozier of Durant, Christy Summerville of Boswell, Roy Nelson of Union City, Devin Nelson of Durant; seven grandchildren, Kathryne Newberry of Mead, James Hill of Mead, Zack Johnson of Kingfisher, Keandre Morris of Durant, Cathrine Olivia of Boswell, Christopher Osborne of Mead, Kameron McBride of Union City; siblings, Bonnie Johnson of Prague, Janell McCammon of Bixby, LaNita Pate of Durant, Billy Nelson of Durant; sister in law, Linda Nelson of Pittsburg; and a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryne Nelson; parents, James and Esther Nelson; brother, James Nelson. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Coleman Cemetery in Coleman, Oklahoma. Family hour will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. A full obituary is being composed and will be posted here once available.
