Laura Jane Sharber

Laura Jane (Griffin) Sharber was born on February 19, 1938 to Hannah (Golden) & Charles Griffin in Civit, Oklahoma. Laura met her husband Hoyle Sharber in their youth and the two married in a ceremony in Stratford, Oklahoma on may 26, 1956, and they shared 57 wonderful years together until his passing in 2014. She went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2025 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Laura was a devoted homemaker whose life was defined by love, faith, and selflessness. She raised four children with unwavering dedication and was a steadfast support to her husband throughout their journey together. As the wife of the Wynnewood Schools Superintendent, Laura was a constant presence at school functions and sporting events, always cheering her family on with pride and grace. Over the years, Laura opened her heart and home to care for others, babysitting children and creating a warm, nurturing environment for all who entered her doors. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother, whose kindness, compassion, and acceptance left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Laura had a deep passion for cooking, canning, and sewing, and her family will forever cherish the memory of her famous pecan pie and dumplings. An avid sports fan, she found joy in watching any game she could find on television. Her home was often the heart of family gatherings, filled with laughter and love. She also had a sharp mind and enjoyed crossword puzzles, a testament to her lively spirit and intellect. Faith played a central role in Laura’s life. A devoted member of the Church of Christ in Wynnewood, she lived her life with Christ at the center. She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren, collecting precious memories over material possessions. Sunday neighborhood drives, traveling in her younger years, and quiet moments of reflection brought her great joy. Laura was a lady in every sense of the word—respected, admired, and adored by all who knew her. Her selflessness, grace, and love touched countless lives. Though she has left this world, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will endure in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed. Laura is preceded in passing by her beloved husband Hoyle Sharber, her parents, Hannah & Charles Griffin, brothers Harold and Elbert Griffin; Sisters Ruby Matlock, Bernice Lobaugh, Inez Stonecipher, Velma Michener, Lynden Jackson, Bobby Evans, Barbara Burnett, Charlene Evans and Anna Wren as well as Grandson Christopher Sharber. She is survived by 4 children; Sons Zane Sharber & wife Denise of Stratford, OK, Greg Sharber & Wife Shelli of Pauls Valley, OK, Sheldon Sharber & wife Tammy of Pauls Valley, OK, as well as her Daughter Jacqueline Sharber of Wynnewood, OK. 8 Grandchildren; Nichole Anderson & husband Nathan of Elmore City, OK, Derric Sharber & wife Misty of Stigler, OK, Wyatt Sharber & husband Jonathan Gonzalez of Seattle, WA, Hannah Anderson & husband Jay of Foster, OK, Shelbi Donaho & husband Dillon of Bridge Creek, OK, Kortni Gosnell & husband Tyler of Lindsay, OK, Chandler Campbell & husband Zach of San Clemente, CA and Bridget Perry of Norman, OK. Great-Grandchildren; Jaden Anderson, Kason Sharber, Jett Sharber, Laiklyn Sharber, Reese Anderson, Indie Anderson, Brenlynn Donaho, Ryker Donaho, Haislee Gosnell, Sebastian Campbell and Lorenzo Campbell as well as a host of other extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 5-7PM at the DeArman Funeral Home in Wynnewood, with services to follow on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11AM at the Church of Christ in Wynnewood. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery of Wynnewood.
