Larry Kent Warden

Larry Kent Warden was born at home on the farm near Tishomingo, Oklahoma, to Virgle Samuel (Byrd) and Noreene Pleasant Warden on December 15, 1936. He passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. He attended Enterprise, Plainview, and Prairie View rural elementary schools in Johnston County and High School at Tishomingo. He was salutatorian and Honor Student of his 1954 graduating class. He joined the Navy shortly after graduating and was sent to Hospital Corps School, becoming an HM2 before taking advantage of a reduction in force program from active duty to start at the OU College of Pharmacy in September, 1957. As brother Lew was the top student in his class, the Dean thought he could take a chance with him sight unseen and he was admitted to the 1957 class while still on duty at Camp Lejeune, NC. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy in 1961 and received the Lehn and Fink Award as the top student academically, as did his brother, Lew, 3 years earlier. He lettered in baseball, was selected as a BMOC, and was a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Lambda Upsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Rho Chi honorary fraternities and received the Dad’s Day Award as the top senior in the College of Pharmacy and served a president of Rho Chi and the senior class of the College of Pharmacy. He married College of Pharmacy classmate Sandra Sue Delashaw in January 29, 1961, who died after 43 years of marriage. Later, he married Anita Jann Robinson Henry, a high school classmate, November 19, 2005 and they were together until his passing. He was employed at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK, for 31 years, initially serving as a staff pharmacist and then as Director. He retired as Director of Material Services. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, his brother, Lew Wentz Warden and his sisters Sandra Pralle, Nancy Warden, & Marion Bray. He is survived by his wife, Anita, his son Kent (Lexy), and daughter, Robin O’Neill, and grandchildren: Kaitlin O’Neill, Alia Boone Warden, and Grady Keith O’Neill; stepchildren: Troy Don Henry (Gloria), Jana Henry Morrow (Kelly), D’Ann Henry Bollinger (Mike), and step-grandchildren: Travis, Chloe, Matthew, and Joshua Henry; Dacy (Megan) Briggs, Lauren (Dillon) Banks, Brooke (Ryder) Holloway and Beth Bollinger.
