Jo Ann Clayton

Jo Ann Clayton was born on August 15, 1933 to Curtis & Hazel Sorrell in Ringling, Oklahoma. She was called to her heavenly home on January 24, 2026, at 92 years of age. Jo Ann, also known as Momma Jo to many, graduated from Alma High School. She then went to cosmetology school in Duncan, Oklahoma. She then, very proudly, ran her own beauty salon in Wynnewood for more than 30 years. After retiring from her cosmetology career, she successfully obtained her Nursing Home Administrators credential. She fulfilled that role at the Wynnewood Nursing Home for 10 years. She also prided herself on her time spent providing home health & private in-home care for those in need. Furthermore, she enjoyed her years working for Dixon Construction, where she ensured the day-to-day tasks were completed. Jo loved serving her local community; especially managing a food bank ran out of Eastern Gate Baptist Church. This is one of many ways Jo proudly served her Lord & Savior. Other ways she served included teaching Sunday School classes, cooking at falls creek church camp, starting a card ministry aimed at encouraging others, and was a proud prayer warrior for all. All of these stem from her salvation at the age of 14. From that moment on, Jo knew that her calling was to be a prayer warrior. She always followed the calling of Jesus, and was considered a vital staple of her community. Jo was preceded in death by her parents Curtis & Hazel Sorrell, Brother Curtis “Junior”, Sisters Ivon & Iona. She is survived by her daughters Sherri Harrel & husband Dwayne of Wynnewood, Carolyn Davis & husband Bill of Wynnewood and Jill Price & husband Tony of Blanchard. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kim Blevins & fiancé Brian Davis, Mark Davis & wife Cindy, Jessica Hill & husband Brad, Cody Davis & wife JaQua and Gunner Price. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren to cherish her memory. A special acknowledgement of gratitude to Arbuckle Home Health and Arbuckle Memorial Hospital and their staff for providing exceptional care to our beloved Momma Jo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 4-6PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 1:00PM at the Beaty Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma (on Airline Road) with interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood. Services are under the direction of the DeArman Funeral Home of Wynnewood.
