James Gregory Wood "Greg", 59 years old, of Ravia, passed away on August 10, 2023 at home from health complications. Greg was born on December 30,1963 in Salinas, California to Edward and Mary Ann Wood. He married Tammie Wood in Hartshorne, OK on September 17, 1994. Greg attended grade school in California and high school in Wilburton, OK. After high school he attended one year at EOSC in Wilburton. During his working career he was employed with Redbud Grocery in Wilburton; Roy's Cardinal Foods in Wilburton; EOSC Security Guard; Eagle Brand Snacks in Poteau, OK; Western Uniform & Towel in McAlester OK, nine months later promoted to plant supervisor and transferred to Fort Smith, AR. Later on, the plant merged with Cintas and he stayed on with them for 13 years until his retirement. In 2006 Greg moved back to Oklahoma, during the same year began working with Johnston County Sheriff Department in Tishomingo where he worked as a jail captain until his retirement in 2021, due to health issues. His passion was cooking and grilling food. He enjoyed family get togethers. Greg volunteered for various church activities and events, always had the willingness to help out. He was a Snoopy collector and loved animals, he would save all of them if the wife didn't set a limit for both of them. (The son). Family members always thought he was 32 years old when they haven't seen him in a while. His younger sister-in-law called him "Greggy" for years. Greg enjoyed life, loved his wife and his son Colten is his pride and joy. Three words to sum up Greg’s life; Dedicated, Protective and Loved all his family and friends. He is survived by, Tammie Wood, wife of 28 years and son Colten Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Richard & Marsha Wood of Choctaw OK; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jason & Lynetta Eyachabbe of Sapulpa OK, brother and sister-in-law, Ian & Amy Thompson of Atoka OK; niece and nephew, Alicia & Kris Waterhouse of Claremore, OK, Andrea Wood of Seattle, WA, Aaron and Dominica Eyachabbe of Albuquerque, NM, Jariah Eyachabbe of Sapulpa, OK and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Edward Wood; baby niece, Aiokli Hotona Thompson; grandmother, Hattie Harjo; grandfather and grandmother, Jake & Annie (Surratt)White, grandfather and grandmother, Sam & Dora Wood. Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Greg Wood will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Ravia Cemetery. Family hour will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2023 at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home.
