James Gilbert Sharp

James Gilbert Sharp “Bud” was born July 27, 1941 in Fresno California to James and Lucretia Sharp. Bud went to the Lord on November 11, 2022, Veterans Day, at the age of 81 from medical complications. As a US Navy veteran, Bud was an aircraft mechanic aboard numerous aircraft carriers and went on to support humanitarian operations in the Alaskan Earthquake off the Kodiak islands. After leaving the Navy, Bud joined Tinker AFB until he retired in 1987. Bud grew up in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He married Patsy Sue Adams Sharp in Gainesville, Texas on December 27, 1977 with children Wanda, Winston and Salem. Bud and Patsy raised their family in Moore, Oklahoma and moved back to Wynnewood after Bud’s retirement. Bud valued his family more than anything and inspired others around him. None of us can forget the memories we made at Christmas and Easter with the entire family, including his nieces and nephews. Bud always made sure that everyone had a valued surprise egg, bike, gift or the essentials in life during these times. Bud and Patsy loved travelling every summer with the kids to California or Arkansas. Bud loved to tell stories of his younger days in California and growing up in Wynnewood with his brother and sisters. Bud and Patsy enjoyed family time at the flea markets, driving around town in old cars, eating at the local restaurants, and mentoring their grandchildren. Bud enjoyed joking around with his grandchildren and teaching them how to fish. He always had a gift in hand or a word of wisdom to pass on. Bud was always there to help anyone anyway with whatever. A multi-talented man, Bud carried a bag of talents too long to list. He took on the task of building a farm just east of Wynnewood with his son. His most enjoyable moments on the farm were with the many dogs he took in off the street to give love, warmth and shelter. He built a masterpiece collection of welded toys to include jet engine replicas, animals, cartoon figurines and historic gun collection. He also remodeled an endless number of cars from model Ts to hot rods. He also was a carpenter and always reached out to help people in need with his talents. Bud is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Tommy and Kay Lynn Speerbrecher and son Winston Sharp. He is survived by wife Patsy Sharp as well as children Wanda Adams, Salem Sharp and wife Sakina Hassonjee Sharp. Grandchildren include Patricia, Megan, Becky, David, Luke and Safiya. His sister Gay Lindsey. Nieces and nephews Butch, Charlette, Gay Nell, Dana, Ronda, Shawn, Ladon, Wesley, Jamie, Christy, Tommy and Angie
