James Harvey Deaton

James Harvey Deaton, 72, of Tishomingo, passed from this life on March 1, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. James was born on October 12, 1950 in Crystal, Oklahoma to Sidney and Thelma (Wiggins) Deaton. In his childhood days, James loved riding horses and bulls, hunting, fishing, plowing the fields, dancing and hot rodding. He married the love of his life and best friend, Janice Northrip on June 15, 1979 in Atoka. The two have since celebrated 43 years of beautiful memories together. He spent his working years as an oil field operator. James loved playing dominoes and poker, attending hog shows with his boys, and noodling. Lived his best life at the lake with his family and friends and was always cutting up and giving everyone a hard time. He always was making sure Jody House was looking sharp. James Deaton was a good-hearted man who influenced many kids as well as adults throughout his years. The impact and legacy he left will never be forgotten. James was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Thelma Deaton; brother, Lynn Deaton of Wynnewood; sister, Carolyn Payne of Alaska; and grandchild, Lelynd James Deaton. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his beautiful bride, Janice Deaton of Tishomingo; sons, Philip Deaton and wife Christy of Davis, OK, Gary Deaton and wife Kelsey (Peanut) of Tishomingo, Eric Carter, Frank Carter and Barrett Alexander; daughter, Melissa Sanders of Atoka, Ok; brothers, Alfred Deaton of Lane, OK, Don Deaton of Bentley, OK; sisters, Penny Thompson and husband Eddie of Stringtown, OK; grandchildren, Preston, Skyler, Payton, Leah, Wyatt (Bird), Justice, and Sidney James Deaton, Lucas and Stephen cook; great grandchildren, Averi and Lilly Cook; brother in laws, Jerrall Northrip of Atoka and Terry Northrip and wife Evon of Idabel; special family friends, Carla Carter, Flora Coats and Joy Grant; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will deeply miss him. A viewing will be held at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home starting Monday, March 6, 2023 – Friday, March 10, 2023 from 9:00 – 5:00 PM. The family will have a celebration of life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Bridgeview Marina and Resort in Madill, Oklahoma.
