D. T. Thompson

D.T. Thompson, a resident of Sulphur was born October 25, 1925 in Reck, Oklahoma to Richard F."Buck" & Oma (Grissom) Thompson. He passed away Monday February 20, 2012 at Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years 3 months and 25 days. He was married to Juanita (Vickrey) Thompson at Sulphur on August 17, 1947. She preceded him in death October 5, 2008. He grew up in Sulphur where he attended school. He had worked for Wehunt Motors, Braden Dairy, Fairmont Dairy, and at Braden Motors for over 40 years until his retirement. He was retired from Sulphur Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, any outdoor activities. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he served on the Battleship Iowa as a cook and also loaded 15 mm guns. He was a member and elder of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Paul, Bones, Frank, and sister: Naomi Yersin. Survived by his Daughter & son-in-law: Tommie & Joe Grimes of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Daughter: Bernice Vickrey Klingstedt of El Paso,Texas, Son & daughter-in-law: David & Charla Thompson of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Son & daughter-in- law: Gene & Pam Thompson of Kingston, Oklahoma, Brothers: Dean Thompson of Duncan, Oklahoma, Don Thompson of Middleberg, Florida, Sisters: Johnnye Ruth Morris of Kermit, Florida, and Cotton Thompson of California; Grandchildren & Spouses: Shay & Landon Neal, Colton Thompson, Tyler Grimes, Katie Grimes, Sheila Thompson Robert, Jennifer Thompson Robert, Lars Klingstedt, Kerstin Klingstedt, Great grandchildren: Brady Neal, Hudson Neal, Ava & Jessie Robert, Conner Thompson. Services: 2:00PM Thursday February 23, at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church with Dr. Alvin Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bo Thomas, Levi Thomas, Colton Thompson, Landon Neal, Tyler Grimes, Jim Burk. Honorary Bearers: Bob Blackburn, Eugene Kennedy, Tim Colbert, Scott Colbert, Larry Hobbs, Butch Hill, Bruce Moss, Don Braden, Clay Jack, and Coffee Shop Buddies.
