Dessie Lou (Moore) Sides Houser passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at her home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 29, 1944, in Fillmore, Oklahoma, to George and Sara (Wiggington) Moore. Dessie attended Milburn schools until the eighth grade and went on to lead a life full of hard work, dedication, and love for her family and community. She was the proud owner of Dessie’s Kountry Kitchen and, alongside her husband Gary, operated The Clothes Box and D&G Clothing in Tishomingo. She also kept books for Parks Auction and worked as a caregiver in Fort Worth, Texas, traveling back and forth one week on and one week off. Dessie had a deep love for nature, finding joy in feeding birds, squirrels, deer, raccoons, opossums, and any other creatures she felt needed care. However, the greatest highlight of her life was her children. She often told them she worried more about them as adults than she ever did when they were little. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sara Moore; her son, Kelly Wright; her husbands, Bob Wright, Howard Sides, and Gary Houser; and her siblings, Ola Mae Parks, George "Bubby" Moore, Lois Bardin, Gene Sharp, and J.E. Sharp. Dessie leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her sons, Clifton Wright of Fort Worth, Texas, and James Sides of Fort Meyers, Florida; her daughters, Glenda Mann of the home and Tina Dickerson and husband David of Fillmore; her daughter-in-law, Wilma Wright; her twin sister, Lessie Hackbarth; 10 grandchildren—Cameron Mann, Kierra Mann, Ashley Kucera, Harley Dickerson, Bobby Wright, LaWana Sides, Ariel Timmons, Heather Wright, Wylie Sides, and Jessie Sides; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn. A family visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeArman-Clark Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses. Serving as pallbearers will be Clifton Wright, Cameron Mann, Bobby Don Wright, David Dickerson, Mike Belcher, and Greg Russell. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Bardin, Stan Parks, Gerald Parks, Vernon Moore, Kevin Mann, and Darrin Kucera. Dessie’s kindness, devotion, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements were under the direction and care of DeArman-Clark Funeral Home in Tishomingo.
