Helen Irene Box

Helen Irene (Neal) Box, 76, of Ravia, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She was born on May 30, 1947 in Burlington Junction, Missouri to Merlin Edward Neal and Maybell Howard. Helen spent her life growing up in Galt, California before moving to Johnston County where she called home the last 50 years of her life. She spent her working years caring for her family as a homemaker. Helen was exceptional at crocheting and made several OU blankets for people over the years. She loved listening to Elvis Presley and was a wonderful cook, making the best cheese fries. Helen loved the holidays because it meant that all her family got to be together and there was nothing in the world that she loved more than being around her family. She also loved being a foster grandma for all the children at Ravia Schools. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin Neal and Maybell Howard; husband, Orville Eddie Box Sr.; brother, Robert Neal; one sister; and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Box. Those she leaves to cherish her memories are her children, Bill Box and wife Pam of Tishomingo, Bobby Box and wife Cindy of Ravia, Kirt Box and wife Clara of Tishomingo; 8 grandchildren, Billy Bob Box, Summer Maggia, Shane Box, Dillon Box, Haley Box, Karisha McKinney, Katie Riley and Heidi Box; 8 great grandchildren, Luke Box, Avery Box, Chipper Maggia, Addie Box, Bella Box, KK Box, Lincoln Riley and Lennox Riley; her sweet beloved dog and cat, Itty Bitty and Tay Tay; and a host of numerous other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her. Funeral services to honor and celebrate Helen’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the First Assembly of God in Madill, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at the Ravia Cemetery in Ravia, Oklahoma. Those serving as pallbearers will be Shane Box, Dillon Box, Billy Bob Box, Brandon Maggia, Berry Maggia and Sam Holt. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Miller and Bob Watkins. Arrangements have been made under the direction and care of DeArman-Clark Funeral Home in Tishomingo.
